Ukraine and Poland will hold a historians’ conference from May 6 to 8, which will serve as a professional platform for discussing difficult chapters of their shared past, fostering constructive dialogue, and strengthening bilateral partnership.
This was discussed during a meeting between Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Minister Oleksandr Mishchenko and the Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Polish Sejm and Polish government Commissioner for Ukraine’s Reconstruction, Paweł Kowal, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
The parties noted that the joint Ukrainian-Polish search operations that began on March 23 in the village of Uhly in Rivne region are an important example of constructive and pragmatic cooperation in addressing historical issues.
“In this context, the Deputy Minister highlighted the effective preparation by both sides for the Ukrainian-Polish Historians’ Conference (forum) in Poland on May 6–8, whose purpose is to discuss the most complex questions of the shared past at a professional level among historians from both countries,” the foreign ministry reported.
The parties also discussed in detail Poland’s participation in Ukraine’s reconstruction, including in the context of the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC 2026) to be held on June 25–26 in Gdańsk, Poland.
