Development of strategic areas of cooperation in the energy sector became the central topic of discussion between the Ukrainian delegation and Polish government officials.
During a working visit to the Republic of Poland, representatives of the Ukrainian energy sector, including Deputy Minister of Energy Roman Andarak and CEO of Naftogaz of Ukraine Serhiy Koretsky, met with Poland’s Minister of State Assets Wojciech Balczun to discuss deepening bilateral cooperation.
Amid unprecedented challenges facing Ukraine’s energy system due to Russian aggression, collaboration with international partners, particularly Poland, has gained special importance. Poland is one of Ukraine’s key allies in strengthening energy security and further integrating into the European energy market.
Despite difficult conditions, Ukraine’s energy system remains balanced, though wartime risks require additional safety measures and coordination. The Ukrainian delegation expressed gratitude to their Polish colleagues for their continued solidarity and support, including the supply of essential equipment and assistance in logistics and storage of strategic energy resources.
“Our cooperation with Poland has already proven effective in enhancing the energy resilience of both countries. We have every reason to further strengthen this partnership through coordinated actions and the implementation of mutually beneficial projects,” said Roman Andarak.
Particular attention was given to joint efforts by the governments and companies of both countries in developing energy and gas transport systems. These steps are crucial amid the cessation of Russian gas supplies and ongoing attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
“We have successful experience partnering with the Polish company ORLEN, particularly in supplying American liquefied gas to Ukraine. We are open to deeper cooperation and implementation of joint projects that enhance Ukraine’s energy security and that of the entire Eastern European region,” added Serhiy Koretsky, CEO of Naftogaz of Ukraine.
In preparation for the 2025–2026 heating season, the Ukrainian side presented an action plan for readiness. The delegations also discussed possibilities for coordinating with the Polish side in mobilizing additional and strategic resources.
