Ukraine and Hungary have agreed to hold regular consultations starting from May 12 in order to address all concerns from the Hungarian side and unblock Ukraine's EU accession negotiation process, reported Ukraine's Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Minister of Justice Olha Stefanishyna.
"We agreed that from May 12, teams from both the Ukrainian and Hungarian sides, who were present in Budapest today, will work regularly until we finalize the entire list of tasks within the eleven recommendations that are of concern to the Hungarian side," Stefanishyna said in a national TV marathon on Tuesday following a working visit to Budapest (Hungary).
According to her, the Ukrainian side arrived at today's meeting with additional proposals to resolve the entire range of issues.
"We expect to continue working this week on counterproposals from the Hungarian side, and by May 12, we hope to have intermediate results... I hope this dialogue will have every chance to pave the way for unblocking the negotiation process," the Vice Prime Minister added.
She also mentioned that the Ukrainian side did not hear any radical statements or negative comments from the Hungarian side today.
As reported, the Ukrainian delegation, led by Stefanishyna, includes: First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Yevhen Kudriavets, General Director of the Government Office for Coordination of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Oleksandr Ilkov, Deputy Head of the State Service of Ukraine for Ethno-Politics and Freedom of Conscience Ihor Lossovskyi, Member of the Ukrainian Parliament and member of the Education, Science, and Innovation Committee Yulia Gryshyna, Ambassador of Ukraine to Hungary Fedir Shandor, Deputy Head of the Zakarpattia Regional State Administration Ihor Shynkaryuk, and representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, while the Hungarian delegation is headed by Deputy Minister and Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Levente Madjar.
