On the night of May 8, operators of the 1st Separate Center, in coordination with the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, successfully struck one of the largest oil refineries in northern Russia — the Yaroslavl Oil Refinery.

The enterprise “Slavneft-YANOS,” with a designed capacity of 15 million tons of oil per year, is among the five largest oil refineries in Russia.

The plant specializes in deep oil refining and produces motor gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, jet fuel, fuel oil, and other petroleum products.

As a result of the DeepStrike operation, a fire broke out on the facility’s territory. The full extent of the damage is still being clarified.

The Unmanned Systems Forces are systematically reducing the Russia’s ability to supply fuel and lubricants to the Russian army and sustain its war against Ukraine.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said:

“Yaroslavl, more than 700 kilometers from the state border of Ukraine. An oil sector facility that had significant importance for financing Russia’s war,” he wrote on Friday morning.

Zelensky said the refinery plays a significant role in supporting Russia’s war effort, particularly through financing and fuel supply chains. He thanked Ukraine’s armed forces and intelligence services for what he described as a “just response” to Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities and villages.

“Ukrainian long-range sanctions continue to respond to Russian strikes,” Zelenskyy said, adding that Russia must choose real peace and that sustained pressure is necessary to achieve it.

Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces said the strike is part of ongoing efforts to reduce Russia’s ability to supply fuel and sustain its military operations. The damage assessment at the refinery is still underway.
