The Security Service of Ukraine has gathered evidence against two more Russian war criminals involved in the mass killings of Ukrainian prisoners of war in Donetsk region.

The individuals in question are:

  • Shota Karapetyan, Deputy Commander of the 1st Motorized Rifle Battalion, 394th Motorized Rifle Regiment, 127th Motorized Rifle Division of the Russian 5th Combined Arms Army (callsign "Yustas");
  • Dmitry Chikhabakh, Commander of the Assault Company of the "Storm" Detachment of the same regiment (callsign "Sber").

According to the investigation, on June 17, 2024, they ordered their subordinates to shoot a Ukrainian prisoner of war, decapitate him, and place his head on the hood of a disabled armored vehicle.

This occurred during fighting near the village of Staromaiorske in Volnovakha district. Both suspects ordered their subordinates not to leave Ukrainian soldiers alive and to kill them brutally.

Based on the materials from military counterintelligence and SSU investigators, Chikhabakh and Karapetyan have been formally charged in absentia under Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the laws and customs of war).

Comprehensive measures are currently underway to locate and punish both war criminals.

The investigation was carried out by SSU officers in Donetsk and Luhansk regions under the procedural guidance of the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office.
