The Security Service of Ukraine has detained another Russian agent in the Odesa region. The suspect was engaged in identifying and transmitting coordinates of local Defense Forces positions, and was later tasked with setting one of them on fire.
Thanks to the proactive work of the SSU’s Main Directorate for Internal Security, he was unable to carry out the sabotage. Measures were also taken to secure the Defense Forces whose locations had been identified by the agent.
According to the case materials, the perpetrator is a 41-year-old unemployed resident of Izmail, who was evading mobilization. He was recruited by Russia’s FSB through Telegram channels where he was seeking “easy earnings.”
The main task of the agent was to locate temporary positions of the Defense Forces—sites that the Russian forces planned to attack from the air.

The suspect was primarily interested in buildings that, in his view, could be used by servicemen of the National Guard and the Military Law Enforcement Service.
To gather information, the agent covertly surveyed the area, photographed potential “targets,” marked them on Google Maps, and transmitted the data to his FSB handler via messenger.
Later, the Russians instructed him to set fire to one of the “identified” objects.
However, SSU officers acted proactively and detained the Russian accomplice.
During searches, authorities seized his mobile phone containing evidence of correspondence and collaboration with the Russian forces.
Based on the collected evidence, SSU investigators informed the detainee of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed under martial law).
The suspect is being held in custody without the right to bail. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
