In January, Russian tactical aviation intensified operations in the Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad directions, dropping 1,340 guided bombs on the agglomeration — 65% more compared to December, the 7th Rapid Response Corps of the Ukrainian Air Assault Forces reported on Telegram.

“The enemy is literally erasing our cities and villages from the face of the earth,” the statement reads.

The military explained why Russian tactical aviation is the biggest challenge in countering the Russians in the Pokrovsk direction.

According to reports, the Russian forces uses airstrikes differently at different times — sometimes five times a day, other times more than 20. This often depends on weather conditions; when visibility is poor, Russia cannot deploy drones in large numbers and substitutes them with airstrikes.

They also noted that the Russian army does not hold back guided bombs. It is not a problem for them to drop a “full load” of bombs on a single target.

“Recently, we recorded a case where the enemy decided to destroy one of our mortars that was hindering the advance of their infantry. They dropped six guided bombs on just that one position,” the Air Assault Forces added.

The fighters also explained why Russian aircraft are not being shot down:

“This is objective reality. Enemy aircraft drop guided bombs from tens of kilometers away. Even if tactical or operational air defense is brought to the front, planes often remain out of range.”

“For units in the defense zone of the 7th Rapid Response Corps of the Air Assault Forces, this means that their resilience today is measured by their ability to operate under constant aerial pressure,” the military concluded.
