Despite the mobilization of American and allied military capabilities for the war in the Middle East, Europe continues to provide military support to Ukraine, and Ukrainian experience is already becoming important for the security of partners in the Gulf region.
This was stated by French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot at a press conference following the first day of the G7 ministerial meeting near Paris.
He agreed that there is a “certain mobilization” of American military capabilities in the ongoing war in the Gulf region.
“I would even say that this also involves the mobilization of military capabilities by a number of countries, such as France, which are not participating in these military operations but have deployed forces to protect and secure their allies, their citizens, and their interests,” Barrot explained.
At the same time, he emphasized that Europe remains mobilized in terms of military support for Ukraine.
“European countries are mobilized. For more than four years, we have repeatedly been told that a catastrophe is supposedly imminent because supplies from here or there will soon stop. But this has not happened,” the minister reminded.
Barrot also noted the current presence of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the Gulf countries, who visited to share “unique Ukrainian experience.”
“This demonstrates the importance—or rather the Ukrainian ingenuity—which has managed to develop a new, modern inter-service military cooperation for defense against aggression, and at the same time highlights how important it is for European countries, particularly Germany, France, and their partners, to establish ever closer cooperation with their Ukrainian partners,” Barrot explained.
