Druzhba pipeline resumes flow after repairs and Slovakia set to receive oil

The Druzhba oil pipeline is being refilled after repairs on the Ukrainian section, and Slovakia is expected to receive oil on Thursday morning.

This was reported on Wednesday by Aktuality, citing Slovakia’s Ministry of Economy.

The resumption of pumping and supplies to Slovakia is expected on Thursday morning (April 23), confirmed Economy Minister Denisa Saková.

Slovakia’s Ministry of Economy stated that the state-owned joint-stock company Transpetrol had received information from its Ukrainian partner about the restoration of oil supplies via the Druzhba pipeline. The Ukrainian side has provided a pumping schedule for April.

At the same time, SME notes that the Slovnaft refinery has recently almost completely switched to non-Russian oil imported via the Adria pipeline from the Croatian port of Omišalj, and therefore does not have an urgent need for Russian oil.

The media outlet also drew attention to remarks by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who said that no one can guarantee the pipeline will not be damaged again as a result of attacks by Russian forces.

MOL, the parent company of the Slovnaft refinery, has already submitted requests for the first volumes, which will be delivered to Hungary and Slovakia in equal proportions.
