Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Tuesday evening that Ukraine is preparing the European component of its security proposals, building on agreements previously reached in negotiations in the Middle East and Gulf countries. Over the coming weeks, the government will focus on working with European partners to strengthen security cooperation, he said.
“Over the next few weeks, our work will focus precisely on collaboration with our European partners: joint production, defense modernization, defense financing programs, and coordination in security operations,” Zelensky said.
The president highlighted Ukraine’s involvement in consultations concerning the Strait of Hormuz and safe maritime navigation.
“Safe navigation is a global value. We know this from our experience in defending the Black Sea. The world must recognize its importance as well. The situation may change daily—sometimes dramatically—especially given developments with Iran and relations between Europe and the U.S., but our long-term interests remain clear, particularly regarding European security,” he said.
Zelensky added that Ukrainian diplomats have received requests from Asian countries, which the government is now processing. The work involves contacts at the level of national leaders, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other ministries to ensure Ukraine can secure practical measures for its defense.
The president also confirmed that Ukraine has agreements in place to ensure fuel supplies for March and April. These arrangements involve both state and private companies and include coordination with European and Middle Eastern partners.
“It is important that we have agreements on fuel deliveries to Ukraine. At present, the necessary volumes are being imported for March and April. I thank all the companies involved—both state and private,” Zelensky said.
According to the president, such cooperation forms part of broader agreements under which Ukraine “exports security” while securing the resources needed for domestic confidence and energy stability.
During a government meeting, Zelensky also discussed measures to support the population amid rising prices.
“Today we spoke with government officials about how to support people in the face of price increases. External instability always manifests in very sensitive price fluctuations. The government must prepare measures to address this—I expect systemic solutions,” he said.
Zelensky’s statements underscore Ukraine’s dual approach of strengthening both international security partnerships and domestic economic stability, even as global geopolitical dynamics continue to evolve rapidly.
