In Denmark, on February 22, a poetic and musical performance titled Voices of Dignity will take place, dedicated to Ukrainian literature and cultural resistance, organizers announced on their Facebook page.
The event is part of a special program at the Bogforum literary festival in Copenhagen, held on the eve of the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The organizers are the Ukrainian House in Denmark, the Danish Cultural Institute, and Det Ny Teater.
The Voices of Dignity project, launched in 2024 as a platform for cultural dialogue between Ukraine and Europe, will be presented in 2026 under the name Ukrainian Voices – Stories of Freedom. During the performance, Ukrainian writers will read their works in the original language, while Danish actors will perform translations into Danish. The program will include works from Lesya Ukrainka and authors of the “Executed Renaissance,” as well as contemporary Ukrainian writers.
Among the participants are leading Danish actors, including Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Ellen Hillingsø, Kristine Albeck Børge, and Bodil Jørgensen. The main speaker will be human rights defender and 2022 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Oleksandra Matviychuk.
Organizers emphasize that the performance aims to draw international attention to Ukrainian culture as a tool for preserving identity and a form of resistance during the war.
