The Ukrainian-Estonian startup Teletactica has secured a grant from the Estonian Ministry of Defense to develop drone communication systems resistant to electronic warfare (EW). With offices in Ukraine, Estonia, and Latvia, the company will leverage its multinational expertise to create next-generation communication technologies designed to withstand jamming attempts, according to Yevhen Zhebko, CEO of of the startup.
As Defender Media mentioned the project is slated for 18 months, the team anticipates completing it ahead of schedule. The development budget is estimated at €300,000, with 40% provided by the Estonian defense grant and the remainder funded through Teletactica’s own investment.
The contract builds on Teletactica’s existing experience in Ukraine, where the team developed a communications ecosystem for managing drones and transmitting video streams. These solutions are compatible with most UAV types and are actively used in operational conditions.
Now, the company is transforming that experience into a new product: a tactical communication system protected against electronic interference and equipped with extended command-and-control (C2) functionality for drones.
“During the 18-month programme, we will develop prototypes and conduct laboratory and field tests,” the startup stated, noting that testing will involve partners across Estonia and the Baltic states to simulate real combat scenarios.
Teletactica has also begun producing its own drones to support high-quality demonstrations. The company sees this as a stepping stone toward a full-scale UAV manufacturing and sales line.
Currently in the production and testing phase, the system aims to deliver mobile copters capable of stable operation at distances of 35–40 km, offering reliable performance even in contested electronic environments.
