During January and February 2026, the Defense Forces of Ukraine struck three large Russian defense industry enterprises, as well as one key missile testing range and two major arsenals.
Strikes on such targets are necessary to halt the Russian war machine. They reduce the Russia's capacity to produce and store weapons and weaken its ability to strike Ukrainian cities with missiles and drones. It is worth noting that the protection of civilians and infrastructure is the top priority of Ukraine’s War Plan, presented by Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov. The plan also includes stopping the Russian forces on land, at sea, and in cyberspace, and depriving Russia of the economic resources needed to continue the war.
The Ministry of Defense reminds the public which Russian defense industry facilities have been struck since the beginning of the year and explains their significance.
“Atlant Aero”
On the night of January 13, units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine carried out a strike with domestically produced missiles on the “Atlant Aero” enterprise, located in Taganrog, Rostov Oblast. Explosions and a fire were reported in the area of the production facilities.
This enterprise conducts the full cycle of design, manufacture, and testing of Molniya-type strike and reconnaissance UAVs, as well as components for Orion UAVs.
“Kapustin Yar”
On February 5, a strike was carried out on the Russian Ministry of Defense’s State Central Interservice Training Range “Kapustin Yar” in Astrakhan Oblast. Damage was confirmed to the technical facility for servicing medium-range ballistic missiles, an assembly building, and a logistics warehouse.
This is one of Russia’s key missile testing ranges and serves as a main center for testing advanced weaponry, including Oreshnik missiles.
6,000 FPV Drones
On February 9, it was reported that a UAV warehouse in the area of Rostov-on-Don, Rostov Oblast, was struck. Three containers with FPV drones and components were destroyed, totaling around 6,000 FPV drones. Additional containers with drones were also damaged.
GRU Arsenal
On the night of February 12, in the area of Kotluban, Volgograd Oblast, an arsenal of the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate (GRU) of the Russian Ministry of Defense was struck. This complex stores missiles, ammunition, and explosives and is one of the largest storage sites for the Russian army. The strike was carried out using Ukrainian long-range FP-5 “Flamingo” systems. Powerful explosions and secondary detonations were recorded on site.
“Michurinsk Progress Plant”
Additionally, in Michurinsk, Tambov Oblast, a facility producing high-tech equipment for aviation and missile systems—the Michurinsk Progress Plant—was hit by Ukrainian fire. The plant, which supplies the Russian army, caught fire.
“Votkinsk Plant”
On the night of February 21, Ukrainian missile and artillery units struck the Russian defense industry enterprise “Votkinsk Plant” in Votkinsk, Udmurt Republic, using FP-5 “Flamingo” cruise missiles. Production workshop No. 22 was destroyed.
The Votkinsk Plant manufactures intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) RS-24 “Yars,” Yars-S, Yars-M; submarine-launched ballistic missiles R-30 “Bulava” for Borei-A (Project 955A) submarines; 9M723-1 ballistic missiles for Iskander-M tactical missile systems; and 9S-7760 missiles for the Kinzhal aviation missile system.
