Kyiv and Warsaw have signed a letter of intent on joint production in the defense industry.

During a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Kyiv on Friday, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said:

“We have signed a letter of intent, which is not just a declaration of intentions, but actually something much bigger—a step toward practical cooperation. This has been our goal for many, many months. We talked about it and put in a lot of effort to make the idea of joint production of weapons and ammunition at facilities both in Poland and Ukraine a reality,” Tusk stated.

He added that the discussions focused on securing funding and removing barriers that previously made technology exchange impossible or difficult.

The Polish Prime Minister emphasized that the letter of intent “is already supported by concrete facts.”

According to him, the Polish side will also work to ensure that funds from the European SAFE program “can be used as efficiently as possible for joint security.”

“Everyone will benefit from this. This is not only a matter of security for Ukraine and Poland and the development of a modern defense industry, but in the long run, it is good business for both Poland and Ukraine,” Tusk concluded.
