In Kyiv, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with Denmark’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Troels Lund Poulsen. Also present at the meeting was Sirið Simonsen Stenberg, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Industry, and Trade of the Faroe Islands, which are part of the Kingdom of Denmark.

This was her first visit to Ukraine.

“I want to thank the Danish government for organizing the recent visit to your country. We are very grateful for our bilateral cooperation and for the support coming from Denmark, especially military aid,” the President said.

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Denmark has provided 9 billion euros in defense assistance, including 1.8 billion euros allocated for this year.

Key topics of the meeting included Ukraine’s defense needs, strengthening air defense, countering Russian missile threats—including ballistic missiles—and the development of joint defense production. In particular, the parties focused on the joint manufacturing of three types of UAVs: frontline drones, interceptor drones, and long-range drones. They also discussed further development of the Danish model, including increased investment and the opening of Ukrainian defense production facilities in Denmark. The Danish delegation reaffirmed its full support for Ukraine and its readiness to deepen bilateral cooperation.

Special attention was also given to energy security and preparations for the winter. The President emphasized the need to find solutions now that will help people get through the next winter.

Additionally, the discussion covered continued humanitarian support—particularly assistance in building shelters in hospitals, schools, and higher education institutions.
