Ukraine’s Minister of Defense Denys Shmyhal and Lithuania’s Minister of Defense Dovilė Šakalienė have signed a Letter of Intent on joint defense production.

Shmyhal shared the news on Facebook, noting that Ukraine and Lithuania will jointly manufacture defense products to strengthen the security of both countries.

“Together, we are focusing on launching joint production, including the development of long-range drones,” said the Ukrainian defense minister.

“The Letter of Intent on joint defense production in Lithuania and Ukraine was signed in Kyiv together with Lithuania’s Minister of National Defense Dovilė Šakalienė,” Shmyhal added.

The parties discussed concrete prospects for industrial cooperation enabled by the Letter of Intent. The document creates new opportunities for launching joint ventures, expanding Ukrainian companies in Lithuania, and exchanging technologies.

Shmyhal thanked his Lithuanian counterpart for her visit and productive collaboration.

He emphasized that Lithuania will continue to allocate 0.25% of its GDP to military assistance for Ukraine through 2027, sending a strong signal of long-term support for Ukrainian forces.

The ministers also focused on attracting additional funding for weapons procurement and the development of Ukraine’s defense industry, with Shmyhal expressing gratitude to Lithuania for its consistent and systematic support of Ukraine on the path to victory.
