The Security Service of Ukraine has detained another Russian agent in Kyiv. He turned out to be a 40-year-old employee of the information security department of a commercial bank in the capital, recruited by the FSB.
According to SSU cyber specialists, the suspect was collecting personal data of the bank’s clients among Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel and military volunteers for Russian forces. The Russian forces could have used this information to plan terrorist attacks, conduct information sabotage, and carry out recruitment operations against Ukrainian defenders.
SSU officers uncovered the agent in advance, documented his intelligence activities, and detained him at his place of residence.
During a search, four smartphones, multiple SIM cards used for concealment, and three laptops containing personal data on potential “targets” were seized. The devices also contained evidence of his contacts with the FSB.
According to the case materials, the bank employee attracted the attention of the Russians through his activity on a banned social network.
After being recruited, the agent received “test” assignments from his Russian handler to conduct reconnaissance near Ukrainian Armed Forces bases in Kyiv.

On weekends, the banker surveyed the area and photographed buildings he believed could be used by Ukrainian defenders.
Later, he was tasked with gathering information about the bank’s clients among military personnel and volunteers opening accounts to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
He was also supposed to provide Russian forces with the coordinates of a backup data center where the bank’s database and user information are stored.
The SSU investigators have informed the agent of suspicion under Part 2, Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law).
The offender is in custody without the right to bail. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
