Russian forces have begun using a new tactic during Shahed kamikaze drone attacks, with the UAVs flying in large groups along the border with Belarus at a distance of 5–10 kilometers from it.

This was reported on Telegram by Defense Ministry adviser Serhii “Flash” Beskrestnov.

“Each time, the enemy tries to change its Shahed tactics. This time, the Shaheds are flying along the Belarusian border at a distance of 5–10 kilometers, literally one after another and immediately in large numbers,” he said.

According to Beskrestnov, the Russian forces trying to overload Ukraine’s air defenses so that as many drones as possible can break through deeper into the country toward western regions.

“Our guys are working. Of course, the enemy is preparing for such attacks, conducting reconnaissance of our EW systems and studying air defense positions. Our task is to anticipate the enemy’s moves,” “Flash” stressed.

He also noted that hundreds of Shaheds could theoretically fly over a small section of Belarusian territory, but instead they maneuver around the border.

“For the enemy, this means additional risks of being shot down, extra flight time, and additional complications in programming routes,” Beskrestnov said.

In his view, this suggests that Belarus is not eager to allow Russian forces to use its airspace, even for a few kilometers.
