Russian forces launched a large-scale overnight drone attack on the Odessa region, damaging residential areas and port infrastructure and injuring civilians, Ukrainian officials said.
According to regional governor Oleh Kiper, two people were injured in the southern part of the region, where strikes hit residential neighbourhoods and critical infrastructure. The injured are receiving medical assistance.
The attack damaged or destroyed at least three private houses, an outbuilding, and seven vehicles. Port infrastructure facilities were also affected, and fires that broke out following the strikes have since been extinguished. Emergency and recovery operations are ongoing.
Separately, a drone strike caused a fire on a Panama-flagged cargo vessel as it was leaving port. The crew managed to extinguish the blaze on their own, and no casualties were reported. The ship later continued its journey.
Deputy Prime Minister Oleksii Kuleba said Russian forces had targeted civilian infrastructure across multiple regions overnight, injuring more than 20 people in total. In the Odessa region specifically, port areas and warehouse facilities were among the damaged sites.
Emergency services, medical teams, utility workers, and local authorities continue to operate at the affected locations, with an operational headquarters deployed to coordinate response efforts.
