U.S. company Raytheon, a division of RTX, has signed a $3.7 billion contract to supply Patriot GEM-T interceptor missiles to Ukraine, according to a press release issued on Wednesday.
“The new GEM-T production facility in Schrobenhausen, Germany, is planned to play a key role supporting this direct commercial sale and other contracts, ensuring supply chain resiliency and helping to replenish Ukraine's interceptor inventory,” the statement said.
Raytheon clarified that the plant is operated by Comlog, its joint venture with MBDA Deutschland.
“Raytheon is focused on maximizing production capacity, ensuring a steady, reliable supply of these combat-proven interceptors for the U.S. and allies like Ukraine who rely on Patriot to protect their citizens, infrastructure and sovereignty,” the release quoted Raytheon President Phil Jasper as saying.
He noted that Raytheon is investing significant funds in expanding GEM-T production to meet growing global demand, driven by major domestic and partner investments, initiatives to engage alternative suppliers, and the expansion of the global supply chain.
The Patriot Advanced Capability-2 (PAC-2) Guidance Enhanced Missile-Tactical (GEM-T) is an upgraded version of the PAC-2 missile family, designed to intercept all types of aerial threats, including tactical ballistic missiles, and serves as the primary interceptor in the Patriot air and missile defense system, which forms the backbone of air defense in 19 countries, the statement noted.
RTX, which employs more than 180,000 people worldwide, reported revenue of over $88 billion in 2025.
