Continuing the counteroffensive on the Oleksandrivsk axis (Donetsk region), the Air Assault Forces grouping of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has regained control over 285.6 square kilometers of territory over the past month.
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, reported this on Facebook.
“We continue the counteroffensive operation in the Oleksandrivsk axis. Here, the Air Assault Forces grouping has regained control over 285.6 square kilometers in a month. In total, since the beginning of the operation, more than 400 square kilometers of territory have been brought back under control,” he said.
Syrskyi specified that the results of combat operations were analyzed during a working meeting reviewing the activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in February 2026.
According to him, Ukrainian forces are holding back Russian troops on many fronts through active defense and in some areas are advancing. At the same time, the Defense Forces are trying to seize the operational initiative and force Russian forces to act according to Ukrainian rules.
“The Russian aggressor has nearly a threefold numerical advantage, but due to our active actions, it is forced to postpone the dates of its planned operations, patch gaps in its defenses, and redeploy troops from other directions,” the Commander-in-Chief said.
Syrskyi also reminded that Ukrainian forces are striking targets inside Russia.
“Using DeepStrike capabilities, 85 targets were hit in February. Taking previous periods into account, we are seeing a cumulative effect — a 24.8% reduction in Russia’s total oil refining volumes,” he emphasized.
The Commander-in-Chief also highlighted a missile strike on the Votkinsk Plant in Udmurtia, where Iskander-M and Oreshnik missiles, among others, are produced. In addition, the 18% decrease in the use of FPV drones by Russian forces in February is likely linked to Ukrainian strikes on Russian drone arsenals.
“Missile forces carried out 228 strikes in February, while Air Force aviation conducted 104. In addition, our UAVs completed 293,800 special combat missions,” Syrskyi added.
He noted that the meeting also addressed logistics, engineering and fortification works, restoring the combat capability of units, and maintaining discipline within the troops.
“During my visits to the troops, many brigade commanders have asked for help with armored vehicles. We are addressing this problem as well,” the Commander-in-Chief stressed.
According to Syrskyi, the trend in receiving international military aid slightly improved in February. However, the main source of military equipment remains its restoration and repair by Ukraine’s own efforts — in February this figure increased by almost a quarter compared to January.
“I thank the commanders for their conscientious and professional work. According to the evaluation of commanders’ performance, the highest rating in February was given to the Commander of the Air Assault Forces, Major General Oleh Apostol. But above all, I sincerely thank every Ukrainian soldier. It is the soldier who carries the main burden of the war for Ukraine. Thanks to the soldier’s efforts, our army holds the line, advances forward, and liberates Ukrainian land,” he concluded.
