Latvia will allocate €10 million to support Ukraine under the NATO PURL (Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List) initiative, which involves the procurement of American weapons and equipment for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Prime Minister Evika Siliņa announced.
“We will allocate €10 million to support Ukraine through the NATO PURL fund. This is what we decided in the government today,” she wrote on her X page.
According to her, these funds will be used to purchase weapons and equipment necessary for Ukraine’s defense. The acquisitions will be made in the United States — a strategic partner of Latvia — ensuring reliable and high-quality assistance.
Latvia’s contribution is part of its commitment to allocate at least 0.25% of GDP to support Ukraine, reaffirming Riga’s consistent and firm stance on assisting Kyiv amid Russian aggression.
The PURL initiative, launched by NATO in cooperation with the U.S., allows allies to fund large-scale purchases of American weaponry directly from U.S. production, enabling the rapid delivery of critically needed offensive and defensive systems to Ukraine.
