Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that 300 Ukrainian defenders, along with two civilians, are returning home from Russian captivity.
“Another 300 Ukrainian defenders are returning home from Russian captivity. Two Ukrainian civilians were also brought back today,” Zelenskyy wrote on his Telegram channel on Friday.
The President noted that among those returning are servicemembers from the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the National Guard, and the State Border Guard Service.

“Privates, sergeants, officers. They defended Ukraine on various fronts: Donetsk, Luhansk, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, and in Mariupol. Most of them were held captive for over a year, and some since 2022,” Zelenskyy said.
He expressed gratitude to all the soldiers who made this possible by replenishing Ukraine’s exchange pool, as well as to the entire team that worked to achieve this result.

“I am thankful to the United States for their mediation. It is important that the agreements worked. We remember each and every one, and we will make sure to bring all our people home,” the President emphasized.
