With changing weather conditions, Russian forces have intensified offensive actions and are conducting them along almost the entire 1,200 km frontline, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi said.
“The hottest areas over the past month have been the Oleksandrivka, Pokrovsk, Kostiantynivka, and Lyman directions. We must seize the strategic initiative, therefore we are conducting an active defense. Thanks to this, in March our troops regained control of nearly 50 square kilometers of territory that had been occupied by Russian forces,” Syrskyi wrote on Telegram.
He emphasized that Ukrainian quality of warfare is being used to counter Russian numerical superiority, forcing Russian forces to play by Ukraine’s rules and constantly delay the timelines for accomplishing their objectives.
“In order to reduce the enemy’s offensive capabilities, we are maintaining a high intensity of strikes against military, defense-industrial, and other facilities on Russian territory that support the occupiers’ actions. In March, 76 such targets were hit using Deep Strike capabilities, including 15 oil refining facilities,” Syrskyi said.
As part of the monthly review of the Armed Forces’ activities, the Commander-in-Chief also heard reports on the state of mobilization and recruitment, logistics support, fortification of defensive lines, training and restoration of combat readiness of units, and the maintenance of discipline within the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“In the context of the report by the Support Forces Command, I emphasized the need to intensify work on engineering barriers and fortifications. Where defenses are prepared in advance and properly equipped, we are able to hold the line for a long time, protect Ukrainian defenders, and eliminate more Russian forces. A new solution in the conditions of modern ‘drone warfare’ is the construction of sunken routes for the movement of military equipment and personnel. The Air Assault Forces are demonstrating how this should be done. Tasks for the next period have been set,” Syrskyi concluded.
