On July 1, Italy assumed the chairmanship of the Tallinn Mechanism, announcing its intention to double its contribution to cooperation with Ukraine in digital development in 2026, increasing funding from €1 million to €2 million.
The priority areas of cooperation will include strengthening the cybersecurity of government institutions at both the national and regional levels, protecting critical infrastructure, enhancing cyber resilience, and supporting the professional development of cybersecurity specialists.
Ukraine's Deputy Foreign Minister for Digital Development, Digital Transformations and Digitalization, Andrii Droniuk, welcomed the start of Italy's chairmanship and praised its decision to expand support for Ukraine.
"The Tallinn Mechanism has become one of the most successful examples of how international partnership can deliver tangible results in strengthening Ukraine's cyber resilience. Our cooperation with the United Kingdom, Italy, and the other participating countries demonstrates that investing in Ukraine's cyber resilience is an investment in the security and resilience of all of Europe. This continuity of leadership sends a clear signal that international support for Ukraine remains strong, coordinated, and focused on achieving long-term results," the Ukrainian diplomat said.
Andrii Droniuk also expressed his sincere gratitude to the United Kingdom for its leadership and significant contribution to strengthening Ukraine's cybersecurity during its chairmanship of the Tallinn Mechanism.
