On Monday, May 4, military exercises called “Spring Storm 2026” began in Estonia, and their plan includes lessons from the Russia–Ukraine war. This was reported by Delfi.

The goal of this year’s exercises is to practice planning and conducting defensive operations together with the Estonian division and allied forces in conditions of conventional warfare. At the same time, cooperation between Estonian and allied units is being strengthened with the involvement of other branches of the armed forces and command structures.

“Spring Storm 2026” will take place from May 4 to June 1, mainly in several locations across Estonia, as well as in northeastern Latvia.

The partial conduct of the exercises on Latvian territory will help strengthen cross-border military cooperation and jointly practice actions in the border region.

Units from Estonia, the United Kingdom, France, and Latvia are participating in the training exercises near Latvia.

It is noted that the exercise plan includes lessons based on the war launched by Russia against Ukraine, particularly regarding defensive operations and the use of unmanned systems.

“Spring Storm 2026” is the largest military exercise of this year. The first such exercises were held back in 2003.
