The Verkhovna Rada ratified the Agreement on a 100-year partnership between Ukraine and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
Legislative Initiative No. 0332 was approved by 295 deputies.
The explanatory note states that ratification will complete all domestic procedures and initiate a 100-year partnership aimed at strengthening cooperation in defense, security, trade and economy, energy, education, science, culture, social issues, migration, justice, and information security.
The agreement comes into force upon receipt by the parties of the last notification confirming completion of their domestic procedures. It provides for enhanced military cooperation in maritime security through the creation of a new structure to strengthen security in the Baltic, Black, and Azov Seas and deter Russian aggression. The agreement will also unite experts to develop partnerships in healthcare, agrotechnology, space, and unmanned technologies, and support educational projects.
Additionally, the agreement affirms the United Kingdom’s status as a priority partner of Ukraine in the energy sector, extraction of critical minerals, and production of “green” steel.
At Ukraine’s request, the UK also developed a new system to track grain stolen from Russian-occupied territories. A special database has been created, which will be handed over to Ukraine by the UK Minister of Environment.
