Ruslan Stefanchuk: Ukraine is where a new security reality for Europe is being shaped

A new security reality for Europe is being formed in Ukraine, which is why today Ukraine serves as a reliable shield for the European community, stated Ruslan Stefanchuk, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, during a speech at the Parliamentary Summit of the Three Seas Initiative, according to his Facebook page.

Stefanchuk noted, “Yesterday, Ukraine experienced one of its most terrible days. Russia launched missiles and drones throughout the entire day—almost a thousand drones across the country. Targets included a maternity hospital in Ivano-Frankivsk, the historic center of Lviv, which is under UNESCO protection, and other civilian sites. There were fatalities and injuries, including children.”

“Today the question is direct: are we strong enough to defend democracy and our peoples? Parliaments play a decisive role here. They are the crucible where the political will of nations and continents is forged,” he emphasized.

The Verkhovna Rada Chairman added:

“Ukraine today is a powerful center, concentrating the most advanced warfighting experience in the world. This is where a new security reality for Europe is being shaped. That is why Ukraine is not an ‘additional burden’ but a reliable shield for the European community. Ukrainians do not know fatigue. We have faith. We have rage. And we have a unique chance to write history together—for our freedom and yours.”

“Almost all Three Seas countries understand what Soviet and Russian aggression means. Therefore, our response must be clear: full compensation for damages, strict pressure on the aggressor, and unwavering unity. The world cannot afford weakness, because Moscow always interprets hesitation as an invitation to commit new crimes,” Stefanchuk concluded.
