On the night of April 17 (from 18:00 on April 16), the Russian forces attacked with one Iskander-M ballistic missile launched from temporarily occupied territory in Crimea, as well as 172 strike UAVs of the Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and other types from directions including Bryansk, Kursk, Orel, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia), and Hvardiiske in occupied Crimea. About 120 of them were Shahed drones.
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare (EW) and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
According to preliminary data as of 08:00, air defense shot down or suppressed 147 UAVs of the Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and other types in the north, south, and east of the country.
Impacts of a ballistic missile and 20 strike UAVs were recorded at 8 locations, as well as debris from downed drones at 4 locations.
