Zhytomyr Region consistently maintains leading positions in Ukraine across key livestock development indicators.
According to the Zhytomyr Regional Military Administration, as of December 1, 2025, farms of all categories in the region kept 97,000 head of cattle (8th place nationwide), including 60,600 cows (6th place).
The pig population totaled 173,800 head, sheep and goats numbered 16,400, and poultry stood at 7.57 million head (8th place).
In terms of livestock production volumes, the region also ranks among the national leaders. During the first nine months of 2025, it produced 305,500 tonnes of milk (4th place in Ukraine), sold 40,000 tonnes of meat in live weight, and produced 591.8 million eggs (3rd place).
The region currently has 118 dairy farms, including 30 large-scale operations, 34 poultry farms and complexes, and 25 pig farms.
The Regional Military Administration noted that in 2026 the state is significantly expanding support instruments for the agricultural sector, opening additional opportunities for the development of agricultural production and processing in the region.
