As part of cooperation with UNICEF, USD 91 million will be directed to Ukrainian education in 2026.

This was reported by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine continues its cooperation with UNICEF to provide comprehensive support to children, school students, and educators. During a meeting between Ukrainian Minister of Education and Science Oksen Lisovyi and the newly appointed Head of UNICEF Representative Office in Ukraine Anne-Claire Dufay, the parties signed the Annual Work Plan for 2026. The document is part of the Joint Programme of the Government of Ukraine and UNICEF for 2025–2029. UNICEF is one of the largest partners providing systemic support to Ukraine’s education sector. The cooperation covers three priority areas:

  • expanding equal access to quality preschool education and supporting the implementation of the new European integration Law “On Preschool Education” and comprehensive transformation of the sector;
  • restoring the educational process, creating a safe and inclusive learning environment for primary and secondary school students, as well as providing integrated psychological and psychosocial support to children affected by the war;
  • strengthening career guidance systems and skills development to prepare teenagers for further education and entry into the labor market.

Within the framework of the 2026 Annual Plan, UNICEF will allocate USD 91 million to support Ukrainian education. This will enable approximately 1 million children to be covered by formal and non-formal education, including early development programs and youth skills development.

“For children in Ukraine, studying in a safe environment restores a sense of relief, a normal rhythm of life, and hope for the fulfillment of dreams. UNICEF supports the Government of Ukraine so that every child and every young person, regardless of circumstances, has access to quality and inclusive education and can develop their skills,” said Anne-Claire Dufay.
