The National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (NEURC) has decided to increase Ukrenergo’s electricity transmission tariffs for businesses from August 1.
The decision was adopted at a NEURC meeting.
The electricity transmission tariff for system users, excluding “green” electrometallurgy enterprises, will increase by 25% to UAH 928.45 per MWh, excluding VAT.
Meanwhile, the electricity transmission tariff for “green” electrometallurgy enterprises will increase by 50% to UAH 563.26 per MWh, excluding VAT.
During the discussion, Ukrenergo Management Board member Ivan Yuryk explained that the tariff increase was caused by Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy sector.
“The transmission topology and the network topology have changed, resulting in increased losses. There has also been a depreciation of the exchange rate, while our PSO is linked to the exchange rate, so we are asking for the tariff to be adjusted so that we can meet our obligations on time.
“In addition, costs related to curtailments have increased, both for renewable energy and system-related restrictions. Finally, there has been a decline in both transmission and dispatch volumes,” Yuryk said.
The tariff increase applies only to businesses and will not affect electricity prices for household consumers.
