Ukrainian athletes win gold and bronze at Canoe Sprint World Cup in Germany

In the German city of Brandenburg, the second stage of the Canoe Sprint and Kayak World Cup of the season is taking place.

According to the press service of the National Olympic Committee, Ukrainian athletes Liudmyla Luzan and Ivanna Diachenko won gold and bronze medals in their respective events.

Luzan won the women’s canoe single 200-meter Olympic distance event. She finished with a time of 47.70 seconds, beating her closest competitor, Canada’s Sofia Jensen, by 0.75 seconds.

Diachenko won bronze in the women’s kayak single 200-meter race. She recorded a time of 43.21 seconds, finishing 0.24 seconds behind the winner, China’s Yin Mengdie.

 

 

For Luzan, this is already her second victory of the season in World Cup stages in the canoe single 200 meters. For Diachenko, this medal is the second of her career at World Cup level: last year she won silver in Poznań, Poland, in the same event.
