Ukraine–Moldova border crossing closed after deadly drone attack

The Starokozache border crossing on the border with Moldova has suspended operations following a Russian drone attack.

The State Customs Service of Ukraine reported this on Telegram.

On the night of September 9, Russian drones attacked the Starokozache international road border crossing in the Odessa region.

 

 

The crossing’s infrastructure and the surrounding area were damaged, and fires broke out. Civilians were killed and injured in the attack.

The processing of people and vehicles at this section of the border has been suspended.

Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional State Administration, said on Telegram that there were casualties among civilians who were near the border crossing.

 

 

According to preliminary information, two people were killed and three others were injured. Rescuers evacuated another 16 people by bus to a safe distance.

The infrastructure of the border crossing and the surrounding area were hit, causing fires.
