The Ukrainian national team has won its first medal at the Canoe and Kayak World Championships in Milan.
According to the press service of Ukraine’s Ministry of Youth and Sports, Lyudmyla Luzan and Iryna Fedoriv became world champions in the C2 500m event.
The Ukrainian athletes led throughout the entire race and finished with a time of 1:53.30.
The silver medal went to the Canadian crew, while the bronze was claimed by the Spanish team.
The newly formed duo of Luzan and Fedoriv had also won silver at the 2025 European Championships in this Olympic discipline.
For Lyudmyla Luzan, today’s gold is her second world championship title in the C2 500m, while for Iryna Fedoriv, this is her debut medal.
