The signing took place during the 18th annual meeting of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission in the city of Astana (Republic of Kazakhstan).

On behalf of Ukraine, the agreement was signed online by the Chargé d’Affaires of Ukraine in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The agreement was also signed by the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The agreement introduces a single electronic document for international road freight transportation across the territories of the participating countries of the Europe–Caucasus–Asia corridor. The implementation of this mechanism will allow:

  • simplifying procedures for organizing international road transport;
  • reducing the time required for permit procedures;
  • lowering carrier costs;
  • ensuring the digitalization of transit operations;
  • increasing transparency and efficiency of transport processes.

“For Ukraine, the introduction of a unified transit permit is an important step in strengthening our transit potential. It is expected that the implementation of this mechanism will help attract additional transit cargo flows through Ukraine and develop logistics links between Europe and Asia,” said Oleksii Kuleba.

The agreement also creates conditions for deeper regional transport cooperation and the introduction of modern digital services in international transportation.

Going forward, the document must be ratified by all participating parties. After the completion of internal procedures and the agreement entering into force, the practical implementation of the TRACECA Single Transit Permit will begin as a digital tool to simplify transit transportation in the region.
