Ukrainian company Phantom Defense has received codification approval from the Ministry of Defence for its Blade interceptor drone. Ukraine’s Defence Forces can now officially procure the system, the company announced.
- Blade is designed to intercept fixed-wing UAVs. It can reach speeds of up to 310 km/h, carry a payload of up to 0.5 kg and operate at distances of up to 30 km.
- The drone takes off and lands vertically, eliminating the need for a runway. It can be launched even from an unprepared site. Daylight and thermal imaging cameras enable round-the-clock operations.
- The system includes a ground control station providing telemetry, video transmission and flight control. The drone operator uses an automated workstation housed in a portable case, which can operate continuously for at least four hours.
- According to the company, codification paves the way for deliveries and the scaling up of production.
