The Federation of Insurance Associations of Ukraine (FIAU) has opened its representation at the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) in Brussels.
According to the insurance association’s statement, the EESC is an official advisory body to the European Union institutions, working closely with the European Parliament, the European Commission, and the Council of the EU.
Among the main goals of the FIAU office in Brussels, the chairman of the FIAU Coordination Council, Viktor Berlin, highlighted the creation of a platform for partnership.
"Ukraine is currently actively moving toward the EU, and the national insurance market is also undergoing transformation in line with EU directives. I hope that our presence in Brussels—the epicenter of EU decision-making—will become another platform for Ukrainian insurers to connect with their European colleagues," he emphasized.
According to him, insurance today is a critical tool for attracting foreign investment to Ukraine and establishing a system of war risk insurance, which representatives of the National Bank of Ukraine, relevant ministries, and parliament are actively developing. Therefore, the new platform is expected to help open the way for international capital.
The League of Insurance Organizations of Ukraine (LIOU) and the National Association of Insurers of Ukraine (NAIU) signed a memorandum on cooperation and partnership at the beginning of January 2025, establishing the Federation of Insurance Associations of Ukraine. Its purpose is to form a unified position of professional insurance associations to develop the market in synergy with the regulator.
The FIAU’s working body is the Coordination Council, which includes two representatives from both the League of Insurance Organizations of Ukraine (LIOU) and the National Association of Insurers of Ukraine (NAIU), as well as the heads of these two associations.
