Contera.ai, which automatically optimizes marketing using AI, has become the first Ukrainian startup to receive funding from the Techstars Tokyo Accelerator.

This was shared by Contera.ai’s founder and CEO, Emin Alekperov.

“Excited to announce that right now we are working on Contera under the support of Techstars Tokyo Accelerator 2025 in Japan — as the first Ukrainian startup ever selected for this programme,” he wrote on LinkedIn.

Alekperov added that this year, a record number of applications came from over 120 countries — the most competitive in Techstars’ history.

In a comment to Forbes Ukraine, Emin Alekperov clarified that Techstars is investing $120,000 in exchange for 5% equity, and $100,000 in the form of a SAFE (Simple Agreement for Future Equity). This is a legal agreement between the startup and the investor, allowing the investor to acquire a stake in the company in the future (usually during the next funding round or a liquidity event).

Contera.ai is a modular SaaS platform operating in a $12 billion market. It aggregates data from various sources, such as CRMs, Google Analytics, third-party analytics systems (Ahrefs, SEMrush), advertising accounts, and competitor websites to identify weaknesses in paid channels and on-site SEO, and automatically fixes errors without user prompts.
