Ukrainian TAF Industries and German Wingcopter have signed a memorandum to establish a joint venture in Germany for the production of reconnaissance drones.
According to a TAF Industries press release, the agreement was officially signed on February 13 during the 62nd Munich Security Conference, with participation from representatives of the Ukrainian and German governments. The companies explained that locating the joint venture in Germany aims to diversify production and reduce industrial risks, ensuring uninterrupted supplies of drones to the Ukrainian Defense Forces. The partnership was formed under the Build with Ukraine programme.
Under the project, TAF Industries will provide licensed designs and manufacturing expertise for reconnaissance drones, which, according to the company, are already being used by Ukrainian forces in real operations. Wingcopter will contribute industrial infrastructure, manufacturing expertise, and engineering resources to rapidly scale production in Germany. To operate in the defense sector, the German manufacturer is establishing a new division, Wingcopter Security & Defence, which will serve as the technological and industrial backbone of the joint venture.
TAF Industries CEO Volodymyr Zinovskyi commented,
“For TAF Industries, expanding production of systems that are already saving lives on the front line is a priority. This joint venture combines our battle-tested innovations with Germany’s industrial capacity, turning operational experience into scalable production.”
In addition to producing existing systems, the partners plan to jointly develop and localize future drone platforms for the European market and NATO.
