Switzerland expands Russia sanctions, targeting 9 individuals and 45 entities

The Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) has imposed new sanctions on Russia over its war against Ukraine.

The measures were announced in a press release by the Swiss government.

Under the Ordinance on Measures Connected with the Situation in Ukraine, nine individuals and 45 entities have been added to Annex 8. In addition, information concerning 11 individuals and companies already subject to sanctions has been amended.

The changes took effect on Tuesday, August 11, at 11:00 p.m. local time.

The individuals newly added to Switzerland’s sanctions list include representatives of Russia’s industrial and defense sectors.

In particular, the restrictions apply to Rostec Executive Director Oleg Yevtushenko, former head of the United Shipbuilding Corporation Alexei Rakhmanov, and businessman Takhir Garayev.

Dozens of Russian entities have also been added to the sanctions list.
