Ukraine’s GDP in the first quarter of 2026 decreased by 0.5% year-on-year after growing by 2.8% in the fourth quarter of 2025. This is according to data from the State Statistics Service.

In the first quarter of 2025, the economy grew by 0.8%.

“According to the preliminary estimate, real GDP in Q1 2026 decreased by 0.7% compared to the previous quarter (seasonally adjusted), and by 0.5% compared to Q1 2025,” the agency reported.

The preliminary GDP estimate is based on early statistical data on real growth or decline in production volumes by types of economic activity.

This is the first GDP decline since the first quarter of 2023, when Ukraine’s economy fell by more than 10%.

In its January 2026 inflation report, the National Bank projected GDP growth of 1.8% for the year.
