As part of repatriation efforts, the bodies (remains) of 1,000 fallen individuals have been returned to Ukraine, who, according to preliminary information from the Russian side, are Ukrainian defenders.
This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
Investigators from Ukrainian law enforcement agencies, together with representatives of expert institutions, will carry out all necessary procedures to identify the repatriated remains.

The repatriation was made possible through coordinated efforts by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the Joint Center at the Security Service of Ukraine, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, the Office of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Missing Persons under Special Circumstances, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, and other structures within Ukraine’s security and defense sector.

The Coordination Headquarters expressed sincere gratitude to the International Committee of the Red Cross for its assistance and support in implementing the repatriation measures. Special thanks were also extended to the personnel of the Joint Center for Civil-Military Cooperation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who transport the repatriated bodies to designated state specialized institutions, organize the transfer of the fallen to law enforcement bodies within the Interior Ministry system and to forensic medical experts within the Health Ministry system, as well as to representatives of the Armed Forces’ civil-military cooperation units responsible for overall coordination.
