Quantum Systems has announced a major partnership with Ukraine to strengthen the country’s air defense capabilities. The German company will supply 15,000 interceptor drones and invest in the Ukrainian manufacturer WIY Drones to scale up production, according to a company blog post.
Quantum Systems signed a contract with Ukraine’s Security and Defense Forces for the large-scale delivery of counter-unmanned aerial systems (c-UAS) designed to intercept enemy UAVs. These systems have become a crucial tool against Russian strike drones.
The centerpiece of the collaboration is the STRILA (“Arrow”) interceptor drone, specifically developed to destroy fast and maneuverable aerial targets. Production will be expanded in Ukraine to quickly meet frontline demands.
Sven Kruck, Co-CEO of Quantum Systems, said: “Ukrainian engineers have developed some of the most effective counter-drone technologies in the world. Quantum Systems brings these solutions to industrial scale and helps Ukraine close its sky.”
The investment in WIY Drones will also expand local defense manufacturing. WIY Drones, which produces reconnaissance and strike UAVs, ground control stations, and related systems, will integrate Quantum Systems’ technologies into its products and oversee maintenance of the interceptor drones within Ukraine.
Quantum Systems highlighted that Ukrainian engineers have already developed effective drone-countering solutions. The partnership aims to scale these technologies to an industrial level, potentially opening future opportunities for export.
