Mine action operators within the state program compensating the cost of demining agricultural land cleared 572 hectares in March of this year.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture, six agreements for the demining of agricultural land were completed.
It is noted that operators received 35.4 million UAH for the work performed. The average cost of demined land in March under the program was 59,000 UAH per hectare.
At the same time, work continues. Under two contracts signed by the Humanitarian Demining Center, operators have begun clearing more than 85 hectares of agricultural land. The cost of these services is 5.8 million UAH.
“Low activity in the first quarter is related to the revision of the budget program ‘Humanitarian Demining,’ which is why applications from farmers and individual landowners were not considered. Currently, submission and review of applications have resumed,” the ministry clarified.
It also added that work is currently ongoing under 37 contracts covering agricultural plots totaling about 8,000 hectares. 82 contracts have already been completed, returning 14,600 hectares to use. The total cost of the work amounted to about 854.5 million UAH.
