Russian forces are intensifying offensive operations in the north of Donetsk region, particularly in the Lyman direction.

This was reported by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, following his working visit to frontline units.

“I spent the day visiting units carrying out combat missions in Donetsk region. The hottest areas remain Pokrovsk, Dobropillia, and Vuhledar. The enemy is also increasing pressure in the north of Donetsk region, especially in the Lyman direction,” Syrskyi noted.

According to him, Ukrainian forces are engaged in heavy defensive battles against numerically superior Russian troops, holding back their assaults and, in some cases, carrying out counterattacks.

Syrskyi met with brigade and corps commanders to receive detailed reports on the battlefield situation and command structures. Based on these briefings, decisions were made to strengthen defensive resilience.

“The Armed Forces are fully aware of their crucial mission and remain capable of accomplishing their tasks. We are defending and liberating Ukrainian territory. Units in Donetsk region are receiving comprehensive support and reinforcements,” he stressed.

Syrskyi also expressed gratitude to Ukrainian soldiers who, under the most challenging conditions, maintain their spirit, hold their positions, and destroy the Russian forces.
