Dutch defense company Destinus, together with German defense giant Rheinmetall, is accelerating development of a new missile with a range of up to 2,000 kilometers called RUTA Block 3, which is scheduled to undergo testing in Ukraine next year. This was announced in a Destinus press release.

“Destinus today announced the accelerated start of the RUTA Block 3 program, developed for a 2,000 km-class long-range precision strike capability and extending the operationally validated RUTA family,” the company stated.

Testing of the RUTA Block 3 missile is expected to begin in Ukraine in 2027.

The RUTA Block 3 missile will be based on the RUTA architecture, which has already progressed from combat testing to serial industrial production.

The company noted that the RUTA Block 1 is already being mass-produced in the Netherlands.

RUTA Block 2, developed with support from Brave1, is currently undergoing flight testing in Ukraine, with production expected to begin later this year.

RUTA Block 3, in turn, will expand the RUTA missile architecture into a new category of long-range strike missiles.

“The program is designed to shift European long-range strike from limited inventories toward sustained industrial production,” the company explained.
