Naftogaz Group and Microsoft have signed a memorandum of cooperation aimed at developing IT infrastructure, artificial intelligence, cloud technologies and digital solutions for the energy sector, Naftogaz reported.
“AI is becoming increasingly important to how companies innovate and compete, but its value depends on applying it responsibly to real business and operational needs. By combining industry expertise with Microsoft technologies, we will focus on practical use cases that can support better-informed decision-making and efficient operations in Ukraine’s energy sector,” said Yevhen Kahanovskyi, General Manager of Microsoft Ukraine.
Naftogaz Digital, the Group’s in-house technology competence centre, is expected to play an important role in the company’s digital transformation, combining expertise in energy-sector processes with capabilities in data, artificial intelligence and IT.
According to Naftogaz, the scale of the Group, the diversity of its business processes and its in-house technological expertise provide opportunities to pilot and subsequently scale solutions across the oil and gas industry.
Potential areas of cooperation include the development of cloud and hybrid infrastructure, scaling AI-based solutions, optimising business processes, centralising technological solutions, strengthening cybersecurity and developing educational programmes in artificial intelligence.
