Morocco is Ukraine's fifth-largest trading partner in Africa by trade volume. Bilateral trade reached $630 million in 2021. Although trade declined following Russia's full-scale invasion, it recovered to approximately $250 million in 2025.

This was stated by Taras Vysotskyi, Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture, during the Ukraine–Morocco Business Forum in Rabat, which brought together government officials and business representatives from both countries.

"Morocco is an important trading partner for Ukraine in North Africa. Today, we export grain, sunflower oil, oilseed meal, steel products, and other goods to Morocco, while importing fertilizers, vegetables, seafood, automobiles, and clothing. We are interested not only in restoring pre-war trade volumes but also in expanding our economic partnership, developing joint projects, strengthening industrial cooperation, and deepening economic ties between our countries," Vysotskyi said.

The deputy minister also highlighted Ukraine's role in ensuring global food security. Despite ongoing Russian attacks on port infrastructure, grain storage facilities, and civilian vessels, Ukraine remains one of the world's key food suppliers.

"Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has damaged or destroyed 726 port infrastructure facilities and at least 156 civilian vessels. Nevertheless, logistics have continued uninterrupted: Ukraine's maritime corridor now delivers cargo to 55 countries worldwide. Since its launch, nearly 190 million tonnes of cargo have been transported, including 110 million tonnes of grain. This helps maintain the stability of global food markets," Vysotskyi noted.

He also highlighted President Volodymyr Zelensky's Food from Ukraine humanitarian initiative, under which Ukrainian food supplies are delivered to countries in Africa, the Middle East, Asia, as well as to the people of Syria. At the same time, Ukraine can become a reliable partner for Moroccan businesses seeking access to the European market while contributing to Africa's food security.

During the business forum, the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Moroccan Federation of Chambers of Commerce signed a Memorandum of Understanding establishing the Ukraine–Morocco Business Council. Another memorandum was signed between the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority and Morocco's National Ports Agency to strengthen cooperation in the maritime sector.

The Ukrainian delegation, led by Taras Vysotskyi, included representatives of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, industry associations, the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, and leading Ukrainian companies operating in agriculture, food production, logistics, transport, equipment manufacturing, seed production, fertilizers, and innovative technologies.
