The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine is launching the Defense AI Center “A1” – the first competence center dedicated to implementing artificial intelligence in defense processes and developing technological solutions for modern warfare.
The center will be part of a network of technological competence centers being established within the Ministry of Defense.
“To stay faster than the Russian forces on the battlefield, we are creating a system of military technology competence centers within the Ministry of Defense. Soon, separate centers will emerge for each key aspect of modern warfare: drones, Middle Strike, Deep Strike, artillery, and more,” said Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov.
The mission of these centers is to continuously analyze the battlefield, track emerging technologies, and determine the next steps for strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities, as in modern technological warfare, advantage goes to those who innovate fastest.
The first of these centers will be the Defense AI Center “A1,” launched with the support of the UK government.
Its main areas of focus will include:
- Analysis of combat data;
- Forecasting the actions of Russian forces;
- Development of autonomous systems;
- Creation of new command and control tools.
The center will accelerate the transformation of frontline experience and combat data into technological solutions, speeding up the implementation of innovations within the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“AI solutions will become part of every domain of modern warfare – from intelligence to command and control. Our goal is to create the most effective defense system in Europe. This is a next-generation, AI-driven army built on speed of innovation, autonomous systems, and networked superiority,” emphasized Mykhailo Fedorov.
